Orientation to the Life of Faith Initiative

Wednesday, August 12, 2020 10:00–11:00 AM Central Time

Do you wonder how congregations can experience vitality and renewal? How can individuals feel affirmed and engaged in their faith and discipleship every day? Where and when do we see God at work in the world around us? How can communities of Jesus truly nurture life-changing relationships with God, one another, and the world?

You are invited to join the Life of Faith initiative for an orientation to the goals of the Life of Faith initiative and a preview of an upcoming project for synods and congregations who are interested in exploring these—and many other—questions. In this first, one-hour meeting, members of the leadership team will share stories, research, and resources about the Life of Faith Initiative. We will also invite you to join us for a longer workshop (see below) to engage more deeply in these concept and questions, and we’ll share about an upcoming pilot project centering on the initiative’s objectives.

When: Wednesday, August 12, 2020 10:00–11:00 AM Central Time

Cost: Just your time.

Life of Faith Initiative Workshop

Monday, August 24, 2020, from 1:00–3:30 PM Central Time

Over the last five months, congregations and people of faith have experienced enormous changes and challenges to the way we’ve always practiced our faith in Christ. We haven’t been able to worship in the usual ways. We haven’t been able to care for each other—to share in our joys and hardships—in the usual ways. We haven’t been able to serve our communities in the usual ways. Gathering together as people of God has been put on hold for so many of us, in so many places. And yet, the church is still the church—people who are loving and serving our neighbors, trusting Jesus, adapting to the current context, and living out our callings in many scattered places. Surprisingly, sometimes even thriving in ways we never could have imagined before. But we still wonder, what does the future hold for the church?

The Life of Faith Initiative invites you to join us for a workshop to explore the ways that congregations and individuals can live and embrace being gathered and scattered people and how ministry – God’s movement and mission in the world – happens both through our congregational activities and through our daily lives.

WhenMonday, August 24, 2020, from 1:00–3:30 PM Central Time

Cost: Just your time.

The Life of Faith leadership team will describe in greater detail what it means to become a congregation that puts the priesthood of all believers at its core. We will share additional details about the Pilot Project, including the research and resources that form the basis, as well as the engagement, practices, and commitments required for the project.

To participate in this workshop, you should have also participated in the introduction to the initiative (above). To register in advance for this workshop, please complete the information on this form.

After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting using Zoom.

We look forward to sharing this time with you!
